If there's anything that one could be certain about DICE's upcoming World War 1 shooter, Battlefield 1, it is the fact that the franchise's fans are eagerly awaiting the date when the game finally gets released on the market. Thankfully, it seems like Battlefield fans should have something to look forward to in a few weeks, as an insider has recently announced that the upcoming game's beta would be launched very soon.

What makes this particular announcement very legitimate is the fact that the information actually came from the Battlefield community manager in Germany himself, Sebastian Moritz. According to the community manager, the Battlefield 1 beta would be starting shortly after Gamescom, which is set to take place from August 17 to 21. With the date of Gamescom in mind, the launch date of the Battlefield 1 beta would probably fall sometime between late August or early September.

Also, Moritz stated that Battlefield insiders, a program that allows fans of the franchise to receive newsletters and other Battlefield-related material online, would be given the chance to access the upcoming game's beta three days before other players. Apart from this, the community manager has also confirmed that Rush mode would be making a comeback in the upcoming title.

Battlefield 1 is currently in its closed alpha, which only a select number of players have access to. Once the beta launches, more players and Battlefield fans would finally get to sample the World War 1 game with all its bells and whistles.

Opting to feature the First World War, Battlefield 1 broke numerous conventions when the game's theme was announced. With most first-person shooters in the market opting for present and future warfare, it is very rare for a premium title from a massive franchise such as Battlefield to instead deal with wars that have happened in the past.

Considering the almost-universal acclaim the upcoming title has garnered since its reveal trailer was shown, however, it would seem like the decision to have Battlefield 1 focus on World War 1 was a wise choice after all.
