Actor and TV personality Nick Cannon made media rounds this week and criticized Fox and American Idol for fueling a feud between his wife Mariah Carey and co-judge Nicki Minaj.

Over the past weeks on Idol, Carey and Minaj have encountered intense arguments on the judges panel, with Minaj even taking to her Twitter account to post that Carey was "bitter" and "insecure."

Although Carey has yet to defend her behavior off-camera, but Cannon is speaking up for his wife, calling the situation "unfortunate."

"When you see someone like my wife, who tries to remain classy and tries to take the high road, it feels like everybody else around it - including the network and the producers - feed into this whole sound bite drama. It feels like it lacks substance," he said on The Talk.

Cannon continued to say that fans are tired of seeing the arguments between the ladies and how they act towards the contestants.

"I think America in general is tired of seeing the mean judges and people be mean to people. They're over it," he said.

Cannon also stopped by KTLA News in Los Angeles claimed that Carey is more concerned with trying to enhance her career that engaging in a beef that the Idol producers are promoting.

"The amazing thing is that my wife, foreseeing all of this, tried to tell the network. She said, 'I don't think this is going to work, I'm afraid.'" She said, 'I don't need this. I'm doing this for the brand of 'American Idol,' which she has been a fan of and [she] loves the show, but [they're] kind of gonna take this in the wrong direction like one of those reality shows. She's said, 'I didn't sign up to be on "Love & Hip Hop," Cannon said.

This week, Carey released her new single #Beautiful featuring Miguel.

"She's so focused on her music and what she really loves to do, and that's why she did "American Idol" in the first place," Cannon said.
