Five years have already passed since film director Rupert Sanders found himself in the middle of a massive controversy with "Twilight" actress, Kristen Stewart. Now, it seems like the director is ready to talk about what happened during those times.

On his talk with Metro while promoting his latest film "Ghost in the Shell," the 46-year-old director reminded everyone that he is also human. He was asked by the publication about the things he learned about what happened. The "Snow White and the Huntsman" director said that there are unexpected things in every corner of life. "Everyone makes mistake," he said, "I am bound to make more mistakes and I wouldn't expect my life to be exciting if I didn't."

What happened back then actually hurt Sanders' career and personal life. "If you took people off the table for a momentary lapse, there would be no one making art," the director added.

Both Sanders and Stewart were caught on picture kissing in July 2012, according to E Online. Popular celebrity magazine, Us Weekly, broke the news of the two and released exclusive photos both online and in a magazine. Sanders, after the news spread like wildfire, had issued an apology letter through a publicist for his then wife, Liberty Ross, and their kids.

Unfortunately, things didn't work out for both Sanders and Ross. It was previously reportedly that the divorce paper was finalized two years after he was caught in the controversy.

Stewart, who was dating his "Twilight" co-star Robert Pattinson at the time, had also released a statement about the controversy. And just like Sanders, the actress has officially moved on from what happened as she is now dating supermodel Stella Maxwell.

On her talk with Variety earlier in 2016, she recalled the event that happened in what she calls as "the scandal." She said that attention she got from it was a "nuisance" and wondered how people can resent her if they haven't actually met her yet personally.
