When Once Upon A Time showrunners Adam Horowitz and Eddy Kitsis announced at an ATX Festival panel in early June that the third season would split into two distinctive acts, fans were left with many structural questions.

However, the two say that they have a plan to keep things in order.

"We're really approaching this like two seasons," Kitsis told Examiner"This first eleven is going to be really focused on our core characters and their journey...  [really] taming the beast. We're not going to make it so crazy that you're looking around for eight different timelines."

"There's a fine line in complexity and confusing," Horowitz stated. "We love the show to be complex, but we never want it to be confusing. We want it to be a story that is super engaging and that has different levels to it, and that is something that you can jump into it."

The showrunners also suggested they would be delving more into Emma's past. In the past, the show revealed that Emma worked in bail bonds, and also lived a life of crime long before she gave birth to Henry.

Kitsis called Tallahassee, a season 2 episode that showed Emma pre-jail and pre-Neal, one of his favorites.

"I think this year we are going to do a few more Emma flashbacks, so we can really get to see more of what made her tick," Kitsis told the website.

Rumors are abound about a possible return of the character Lancelot. When the character was introduced in season 2, he was originally brought in as a compatriot of Snow White and Emma. It was later revealed he was killed by Cora, who took over his body.

Actor Sinqua Walls reportedly told HollywoodLife that he would be suiting up again as the knight on the show's third season.

"I'm going back to Once Upon A Time in the summertime to do more with Lancelot, so that should be really fun," Walls reportedly told the website. "I really love that character.

"I don't know exactly how the character's going to evolve, but we'll see more parallels, and [get more] answers," he added. "And is he really dead, or not?"

ABC later refuted the report that suggested Walls would be returning to the cast, telling TVLine that "we have no plans at this time to bring back the character."

Once Upon A Time will return to TV in fall 2013.
