Jane Fonda established a closer relationship with Tom Brady ahead of the release of their upcoming comedy, "Brady."

Fonda and Brady have been working together before releasing the upcoming comedy. Although the 84-year-old actress faced a saddening health issue recently, she reportedly received heartfelt support from the retired NFL star.

In an interview with PEOPLE during her appearance at the Lo Maximo Awards, Fonda revealed that Brady sent her a floral arrangement soon after her shoulder replacement.

"He sent me a humongous thing of orchids because I had my shoulder replaced. I think it's going to last forever ... the shoulder and the orchids," she said.

Meanwhile, Lily Tomlin jokingly said she would get her shoulder replaced as well, so Brady would send her some. But kidding aside, she recalled when the athlete called Fonda to tell her he was trying to be part of a movie following his retirement. According to Tomlin, they immediately became typical Tom Brady fans.

Tom Brady's Post-Retirement Project

Fonda and Brady's friendship blossomed immediately after the former NFL player confirmed his arrival in the TV and film industry.

The Hollywood Reporter first reported that he would produce the football-themed movie, "80 for Brady."

Aside from Fonda and Tomlin, Brady also worked with Rita Moreno and Sally Field to complete the Paramount Pictures and Endeavor Content flick.

Kyle Marvin directed "Brady," and he also served as the co-writer of the script alongside Michael Covino. The movie tells the story of four best friends and New England Patriot Fans who successfully score a trip to the Super Bowl LI in 2016.

They see their favorite player, Brady, as he becomes the greatest quarterback in their lives.

Meanwhile, Brady is co-producing the content through his banner 199 Productions. It will serve as his first project after confirming his retirement from the NFL after 22 seasons.

For what it's worth, the Super Bowl champion penned a lengthy Instagram post where he thanked all the people he spent his time with in the past few years. He spent most of his 22 seasons with New England since he was drafted during the 2000 draft and replaced Drew Bledsoe in 2001.

"I've done a lot of reflecting the past week and have asked myself difficult questions. And I am so proud of what we have achieved. My teammates, coaches, fellow competitors, and fans deserve 100% of me, but right now, it's best I leave the field of play to the next generation of dedicated and committed athletes," he said.

Brady spent 22 seasons in NFL and successfully brought home seven Super Bowl titles and 15 Pro Bowls.
