Fans were shocked upon learning "Vanderpump Rules" stars Tom Schwartz and Katie Maloney-Schwartz have separated after more than a decade of being together. Today, an insider spoke out and dishes about the reason behind their split.

Speaking to People Magazine, an unnamed source confirmed that the couple has not been intimate with each other for "quite a while."

Schwartz and Maloney were also described as a couple that acts like "terrific roommates."

Despite ending their 12-year relationship, the insider assured fans that they are still "a part of each other's lives."

Speaking about the future, the insider revealed the reality stars were looking for something different in their relationship as the 39-year-old star wanted "flexibility" within his life. In contrast, his other half wanted a "more traditional marriage."

Tom Schwartz, Katie Maloney Announces Separation

Rumors about their split started circulating online when eagle-eyed fans spotted Maloney not wearing her wedding ring.

On Tuesday, the pair confirmed their breakup by sharing separate statements online.

Maloney took to her Instagram account to say she never thought she would make an announcement about what she's going through right now, but she's open about her life with her followers.

"After 12 years on an adventure through life together Tom and I are ending our marriage. This ending is not met with resentment or animosity, no sides to choose," the "Vanderpump Rules" star wrote.

The TV star concluded her post by adding photos of them together and assuring fans that they will continue to support one another's happiness despite taking different paths.

On the other hand, Schwartz also took to the social media platform to clarify that he's not looking for any sympathy and not pertaining that he was the victim.

He confirmed that they both had "healthy, productive conversations" about their next step, and it wouldn't be fair on his ex's side if she decided to stay despite not being happy.

The reality star concluded his post by saying he's not looking at their split as a failure because there's no anger and bitterness.

He also said, "I love you" to his "bub" for the last time.
