What do you have to do to get invited to The Oscars these days? One might think simply being the lead actress in a Steven Spielberg film that is up for seven awards including Best Picture might just land you a seat in the audience. You would be wrong.

In a stunningly ignorant move by what was thought to be The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, actress Rachel Zegler, who plays Maria in the Spielberg directed remake of West Side Story, did not receive an invite to this year's ceremony. Though it turns out it wasn't the people running the award show who made this ridiculous flub. According to Deadline, It was actually the distributor of the film, Disney, whose job it was to dole out the tickets to those they want in attendance.

Unbeknownst to the rest of the world, a fan on began asking Zegler what she was going to be wearing to show. Being a good sport about it, she simply replied,

"I'm not invited, so sweatpants and my boyfriend's flannel."

Needless to say, fans did not take the news of the slight very well, but that didn't stop Zegler from issuing a statement to her loyal army of online fans on Twitter,

"IDK y'all I have tried it all but it doesn't seem to be happening. I will root for 'West Side Story' from my couch and be proud of the work we so tirelessly did 3 years ago. I hope some last-minute miracle occurs and I can celebrate our film in person but hey, that's how it goes sometimes, I guess. thanks for all the shock and outrage - I'm disappointed, too. but that's OK. So proud of our movie."

Whether this was a gross oversight or a purposeful intent, don't worry too much about Rachel Zegler. Despire not getting an Oscar nom or invite, this rising star will be appearing in the live action reboot of Snow White in the titular role (ironically for Disney), as well as DC's Shazam! Fury of the Gods. I think she is going to be just fine.
