Before amassing massive fame and fortune, Taika Waititi struggled financially, especially when he directed films in the past. Recently, the actor/director admitted something he did during his early days in the industry.

The "Thor: Love And Thunder" writer appeared on the Wednesday episode of "The Late Show With Stephen Colbert" that one of his films got something from Peter Jackson's "The Hobbit" movie set.

The actor told the host that he and Jemaine Clement were producing a film titled "What We Do In The Shadows" years back, and their budget was not as big as the other movies.

At the time, Waititi explained that "The Hobbit" had just wrapped, and their production designer took his crew to the movie's studios and "stole all of the dismantled, broken-down green screens and took all of the timber" before building a house. (via The Huffington Post)

At first, the director was hesitant to share the story as he said, "man, I don't know if I should tell this. OK, but I will."

Waititi then revealed the house in the trailer is built out of the Green Screen from "The Hobbit."

The director never spoke to Peter Jackson about the matter, but he revealed that he likes telling the story at parties.

However, he doesn't know if his fellow New Zealand director knew about what his team did.

The latest appearance comes a few weeks after reports circulated that Waititi and his girlfriend Rita Ora had been engaged.

In early reports, the pair gave each other "simultaneous" proposals and are currently planning to have an intimate ceremony.

According to The Sun, their first wedding would be small and "low-key," but they will also have a lavish celebration in the summer.

"This isn't about them doing a big showy thing and crowing about it beforehand. It's just about them being in love and deciding the time is right to formalise their relationship," a source revealed.

The insider clarified that the engagement wasn't the traditional "will you marry me" setup, but instead, their relationship got stronger, and they realized that they needed to be together for the rest of their lives.

In addition, there was no engagement ring.

Regarding the guests of their small wedding, the couple is expected only to invite some of their closest friends and family members.

For their lavish London ceremony, they will invite celebrities.

As of this writing, neither of the two stars has confirmed whether the circulating rumors are true or not.
