Marvel star Ryan Reynolds released major news on the long-awaited Deadpool sequel and teases the return of this superhero.

Reynolds made his Marvel debut in the "X-men" film franchise spin-off, "Deadpool" in 2016. He, later on, reprised his role in 2018 in the sequel, "Deadpool 2".

Four years since the last "Deadpool" film, Reynolds himself reveals a big detail in the third installment. In a video announcement posted on his social media pages, the 45-year-old actor acknowledges his absence during the recent D23 expo and revealed that he and the team have been working hard on the third film.

Reynolds' first hint at the upcoming sequel was in reference to the post-credits of "Deadpool 2", wherein the anti-hero traveled through time to kill other versions of himself.

"I had to really search my soul on this one. His first appearance in the MCU obviously needs to feel special. We need to stay true to the character. Find new depth and motivation, new meaning. Every Deadpool needs to stand out and stand apart." Reynolds expressed.

The Return of Wolverine

The biggest bombshell in the video was executed in the most comedic way, with Hugh Jackman casually walking by in the background as Reynolds asked him if he wanted to be a part of the third film.

"It's been an incredible challenge that has formed me to reach down deep inside, and I... have nothing. Yeah. Completely up here. And Terrifying. But, we did have one idea. Hey Hugh. You wanna play Wolverine one more time?" Reynolds asked the "Wolverine" actor, to which he responded with: "Yeah, sure Ryan,"

This reveal confirms numerous fan theories referencing an easter egg from the previous film. In the post-credits scene of "Deadpool 2", Hugh Jackman made a short cameo as Wade Wilson funnily breaks the fourth wall, telling him that they may have to meet again as he kills a different version of himself.

Marvel Fans Are Hyped on the Big Reveal

With the Wolverine out of the bag, fans took to Twitter to express their excitement at the upcoming "Deadpool" threequel, even going as far as implying that Wolverine will save the Marvel cinematic universe from its flop era.

Interestingly, the return of Wolverine to the Marvel cinematic universe wasn't the only major detail revealed, as the ending also announced that "Deadpool 3" will be premiering on Sept. 6, 2024.
