The search for an the next batch of American Idol judges continues following Dr. Luke's decision to back out of the position.

Following diminished ratings over the course of season 12, the Fox program pressed the reset button. Clearing out the judges panel, the iconic music competition removed the feuding duo of Mariah Carey and Nicki Minaj along with long time participant, Randy Jackson.

However, new execs have retained Keith Urban and were planning on teaming him up with Jennifer Lopez and Lukasz Gottwald. Unfortunately, Dr. Luke's commitments with Sony and his own label will be keeping the producer from joing the panel.

Now there appears to be a possibility that actor/singer Harry Connick Jr. may take up the vacant position, according to E!.

The 45-year-old has been on the show before, both in an advisement capacity and as a guest judge an previously talked of returning.

"It's a fun show. It's been talked about before, who knows what'll happen in the future," Connick said, according to E!. "What I've done thus far on the show has been really fun, so I've had a great time."

There has been no official announcement regarding Jennifer Lopez's involvement in American Idol.
