Hunger Games fans wanting more of the love triangle between Katniss (Jennifer Lawrence), Peeta (Josh Hutcherson) and Gale (Liam Hemsworth) will get their wish in Catching Fire.

The Hunger Games: Catching Fire director Francis Lawrence told New York magazine recently that the film would feature more of an emphasis on the love triangle.

"I felt the love story in general was, um, a bit buried in the first one," the director said, referring to 2012's The Hunger Games. "I wanted to bring the love story to the surface. And when I say love story, I mean the triangle."

The director also noted that the special effects in Catching Fire would be better than the effects in The Hunger Games.

"I think the effects are phenomenal," he said. "If you know the book, there's a monkey-mutt attack, and Weta, who did Rise of the Planet of the Apes and King Kong, did the monkeys for us."

Many critics, in addition to the film's stars, criticized the CGI beasts at the end of The Hunger Games. However, with a new director at the helm, Catching Fire will be different from its predecessor.

One change that should please fans is that there will be no shaky cam, which was featured throughout The Hunger Games.

Francis noted that the Hunger Games franchise has been so successful because of how relatable it is despite being in a different world.

"Author Suzanne Collins was raised in a military family, so she grew up learning about the consequences of war. Even though it's sort of an alternate world, it's still relatable," he argued.

The Hunger Games: Catching Fire will be released in theaters on Nov. 22.
