Agents of SHIELD's Grant Ward burned his bridges with Director Coulson and his loyal team during the HYDRA takeover, but he traitorous double agent will still have a part to play in season 2.
The last time viewers saw Ward (Bret Dalton), the former agent was in handcuffs and getting a mini lecture from a severely displeased Coulson (Clark Gregg). While the Clairvoyant's (Bill Paxton) most loyal henchman was presumably heading for prison, Ward will find his way back into the picture on seemingly frequent schedule.
"He's in the mix," teases series co-creator Jed Whedon, according to Zap2It.

Although Ward stacked up bodies like a cord of wood as HYDRA moved into the open, it appears Dalton's character will still have the chance to find redemption.
"The Winter Soldier (Sebastian Stan) has done things that are far more heinous than anything Grant Ward has ever done as far as we know, and yet, at the end of the movie, you're rooting for him to come back on the side of the angels," explained executive producer Jeph Loeb, according to TV Guide. "There's a tradition in the Marvel Universe of our villains turning out to be heroes at the end of the day."
However, there may be one person Ward can never repair his relationship with. Skye (Chloe Bennet) was pretty disgusted and felt extremely betrayed by her mentor's actions, no matter what her previous romantic feelings for Ward were. Despite this, the series has not ruled out a reconciliation for the pair.
"Half the people go, 'Just tell me he and Skye are not going to end up together,'" said executive producer Jeffery Bell, according to Zap2It, while co-creator Maurissa Tancharoen added that there are also "people who say, 'Tell me they will end up together.'"
