This year's Teen Choice Awards took place on Sunday night at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles with hosts Sarah Hyland and Tyler Posey. The room was filled with some of the biggest stars, including Jennifer Lopez, Nina Dobrev, Kim Kardashian and Taylor Swift, and many were honored for their work. However, there were some moments that truly stood out.

Take a look at the five big moments below:

Selena Gomez gives ultimate speech:

The singer/actress, 22, received the Ultimate Choice Award and thanked her fans, who she said make her better. “This never belongs to me, this always goes to you,” she said referring to her award.

The Spring Breakers star also thanked one more important person in her life – her mother.

“I want to thank my mom so much because she’s the greatest human being in the world and she’s strong and she’s given up her life for me and she’s so beautiful,” she said. “And I want all of you to love your mom and give her everything because she’s incredible.”

Jennifer Lopez reunites with former on-screen son:

Twelve years ago, Teen Wolf actor Tyler Posey played Jennifer Lopez’s son in Maid in Manhattan. He wasn’t even a teenager when the movie came out. On Sunday night, Posey, 22, reunited with Lopez and both stars were excited about the encounter.

Lopez shared a photo of the two with the caption, “Aww look at Ty all grown up!! @i_love_harveys #teenchoiceawards.”

Posey shared the same image and wrote, “I can't believe this happened! It's been a long time coming :) @jlo so great seeing you.”

Shailene Woodley gives a touching speech:

The Fault in Our Stars won Choice Drama and lead star Shailene Woodley – who played a character with cancer – shared an important message.

“Nothing is fair,” she said after she accepted the award with co-star Ansel Elgort. “So, the biggest thing that I took away from this movie is that all we have is moments and it’s really our job to wake up each and every day and be so grateful for those moments.”

Donald Sutherland’s comical speech:

Donald Sutherland plays the evil President Snow, Katniss Everdeen’s (Jennifer Lawrence) worst nightmare in The Hunger Games franchise. The 79-year-old actor won the award for Best Villain, but he didn’t seem to agree.

“You named me the most villainous?” Sutherland joked. “I have been married for 42 years, my wife asked me to tell you that she agreed with you. I, on the hand, do not. I think, on the contrary, that I am very nice.”

Sutherland proceeded to throw berries from the "Capitol of Panem." "I wouldn't eat them if I were you," he said.

Demi Lovato really doesn’t care:

Demi Lovato opened the Teen Choice Awards with a powerful performance of her single Really Don’t Care. She was also joined by British singer Cher Lloyd.

Shortly after the performance, Lovato, 21, took the award for choice summer song and told the audience to enjoy their lives.

"I want you guys to know that instead of just getting up here and saying a speech, every single one of you deserves to live a happy and healthy, incredible life, so be the best you can be in everything because your dreams can come true if you work hard for them," Lovato said.
