It seems like everyone is now trying to be like Marvel as with the success of the most recent X-Men movie, Fox is moving forward with a cinematic universe of their own, and it could include this wise-cracking mercenary.

With plans being set for a Deadpool movie, it seems like the mercenary could be apart of the X-Men universe as well, which is something that will be coming clearer with the next movie, Apocalypse.

Writer/producer Simon Kinberg elaborated to Cinema Blend on Sunday on what that would mean and how Deadpool could fit into the universe.

"They do all feed into one another in the sense of wanting to tell this sort of massive story that can take place over multiple movies," Kinberg said.

"We are aware as we are plotting out Apocalypse and the other X-Men movies - both potential sequels in the future and standalone movies - and trying to build them all together so that there is a singularity of vision. And obviously a timeline that makes sense as well, because these movies all, well not all, but many of them take place in different time periods, so that all those things will link up and make sense for an audience."

It seems like Fox is wanting to create a universe with X-Men like Marvel has with their heroes and Deadpool could join Wolverine as one of the mutants getting their own films. With Apocalypse coming out after Deadpool, it could lead to a cameo or even more mutants who will stray off for standalones.

Deadpool is set to open in theaters on February 12, 2016 with Apocalypse coming out May 27, 2016.
