Lead actress of Lifetime's Aaliyah: Princess Of R&B Alexandra Shipp has remained silent after the biopic received seemingly endless backlash on Twitter.

Shipp has not spoken out on social media once the film aired. Her last post via Twitter (as of now) was Sunday morning in which she thanked fans for their support.

She wrote, "Thank you to everyone who tuned in to #AaliyahMovie last night. Means sooo much! Much love!"

It seems like Shipp was not naive when considering the amount of criticism she would receive following the movie. Her final post on Instagram so far is one she made just hours before the movie hit the small screen. She shared a black and white picture with a caption asking viewers not to judge.

"When watching my film tonight, know that I am human. Know that your words and your opinions are your own and that you may think you know, but until we speak face 2 face, you'll never truly know who I am. That's ok.

"I can't wait to meet each and every one of my fans one day. Because I'm a fan of them too! I work hard, I put all my effort into whatever I do. At the end of the day I'm just a normal girl who got the opportunity of a lifetime and wouldn't let that go for anything or anyone. Because that's what dreams are: they're YOURS.

"I'm following mine. I encourage and support EVERYONE in doing that for themselves. Because God put this role in my lap, I believe that, and I wasn't going to throw a gift like that away. Y'all can hate, y'all can debate, but one thing the critics won't do is win. God bless and please watch my movie".

Wendy Williams, who led the film as executive producer, also responded to the backlash on her talk show Monday afternoon.

She pointed out that the movie "broke the internet."

She kept her response short and sweet and simply let fans know that "whether they loved or hate it", it ranked it at no. 2 when it comes to movies watched on television for the entire year of 2014.

Take a look.
