Ray Rice, former Baltimore Ravens football player, has been making headlines lately since the elevator footage of him assaulting then fiancée turned wife, Janay Palmer surfaced. Rice's name made headlines again after NBC's Law and Order: SVU used the 'ripped-from-the headlines case as fuel to create their latest episode.

While Rice may have been making headlines lately, he isn't the only NFL player in trouble. Adrian Peterson has been in the news because of his alleged child abuse allegations however Peterson believes he should not be compared to Rice.

According to Yahoo! News, the Vikings player sat down with USA Today on Thursday night and vowed to never use a switch to discipline his children again.

"I spanked my child and no matter what my intentions were, I ended up leaving those marks on his legs," Peterson said during his interview with USA Today. "That's not what I tried to do, but that's what ended up happening. Don't put me in the same [category as Rice]."

Peterson also admitted that he is very remorseful for his actions and would love to return to the Minnesota Vikings or have a fresh start with another NFL team.

While Peterson's story may not have been converted into an episode of SVU, the members of the NYC Special Victims Unit are no strangers to cases like this.

Unfortunately SVU has gone on hiatus for the next three weeks but the show will return on Dec. 10 with a brand new episode.

Viewers can catch brand new episodes of Law and Order: SVU every week on Wednesday nights at 9 p.m. on NBC. Below is a sneak peek of the new episode.
