The Missing made a quiet entrance on Starz in November, but over the last few weeks the limited series BBC hit has scored a ton of attention.

Dark Secrets Revealed For 'Penny Dreadful' Season 2

Set in both France and England, the crime drama's first season followed the investigation of an eight-year-old missing boy named Oliver Highs, alternating back and forth in time between the week of his abduction and years later after the case has been reopened in light of new evidence.

Following the program's two Golden Globe nominations last week, IGN announced on Tuesday that Starz has ordered a second season of the series.

'True Detective' Season 2 Spoilers

While the new episodes will follow the same alternating past and present structure, it will take after HBO's True Detective by focusing on a new case and new characters.

"We have been thrilled with the critical response and look forward to continuing our terrific collaboration with BBC, New Pictures, and Playground Entertainment," declared Carmi Zlotnik, Managing Director for Starz.

The Missing scored Golden Globe nominations for Best Mini-Series or Motion Picture Made For Television and Best Actress In A Mini-Series Or Motion Picture Made For Television for Frances O'Connor's riveting performance as Oliver's heartbroken mother.

Season 1 starred James Nesbitt, O'Connor and Tcheky Kayro. The cast for the show's second installment has yet to be announced, though the eight-episode storyline will be penned by brothers Harry Williams and Jack Williams, who also wrote the show's first season.

Over seven million people tuned in to watch when the season finale aired on BBC in the U.K.

The Missing continues on Starz in North America with its first season Saturdays at 9 p.m. ET/PT.
