Marcel might just have more allies than enemies this season in The Originals.

'The Originals' Explores Marcel's War-Torn Past

Charles Michael Davis, who plays the originals-raised Marcel, caught up with TVLine on Monday to discuss love, loyalty, and the future for his vampires in an increasingly dangerous New Orleans.

As became evident in the mid-season finale, Freya Mickelson (Riley Voelkel) is returning this season. According to Davis, however, her status as friend or foe has yet to formally be decided.

Why Freya Might Be The First Mortal Mikaelson On 'The Originals'

"Any interaction he [Marcel] has with her would come if she threatens his plans, or tries to hurt any of the people he's protecting," speculated the actor. "Or maybe she'll be an ally, if her interests line up with his."

Her status as an ally would likely depend on whether or not she's there to hurt or help her brother Klaus (Joseph Morgan). Marcel and Klaus, who spent much of season 1 at odds, happen to be on the same side for the time being and so they will likely join or fight Freya together, depending on which way she goes.

Friend or foe, Freya has taken centuries to return to her family and will likely be a force to be reckoned with no matter which way she goes. Unfortunately for Klaus, the safety of his daughter may rely on Freya's loyalties.

The Originals continues on The CW with its second season Mondays at 8 p.m. ET/PT.
