Quincy Brown, adopted son of Sean "P. Diddy" Combs, might have compared his famous family to Fox's new hip hop drama Empire, but word is Diddy does not want his son to have anything to do with the series.

Brown was already slated to have a cameo on the show, but it didn't take long before Diddy shut it down. It's all because he and 20th Century Fox TV could not get on the same page when it came to music rights.

Diddy did not want Brown to have to hand over some of rights to the network. The regulation is nothing new as stars usually have to sign music contacts with shows like this as well as Glee and American Idol. Many of the songs are featured on iTunes.

An insider told Page Six Monday, "Diddy kicked up a huge stint and called all the top brass at 20th Century Fox TV to get them to change their rules over music rights. He said there was no way he was singing over his intellectual property. So he banned him from the show."

But all is not lost. Quincy just dropped his very first single Friends First. And he viewers could still see him on the sophomore season of the Lee Daniels series.

A second source added, "Lee's super excited about having Quincy on the show."

Empire is already a hit on Fox and has had guest appearances from Naomi Campbell, Cuba Gooding, Jr. and more. Jennifer Hudson and Rita Ora will also make cameos and Ashton Kutcher and T.I. have made efforts to be on the show.

Empire airs Wednesdays at 9/8c on Fox.
