Tim McGraw and Faith Hill have their daughters to thank for the Grammy-nominated hit Meanwhile Back Mama's.

Why Tim McGraw Is One 'Awesome' Dad

Up for two awards this weekend, the hit single has garnered much success within the industry. According to McGraw, however, the song had some pretty humble beginnings.

"I was picking up my daughter at school," McGraw told E! on Friday. "I was listening to that song in the pickup line at school, and fell in love with it instantly."

Tim McGraw Tops Multiple Billboard Charts

McGraw knew immediately that he wanted to record the song with his wife and so he brought the song to her later that day.

"I played it for her, and at the end of it, she cried, and said she would do it," explained the country star. "We always want to sing together, but surprisingly we haven't done it that often…The song has to be special for us to record it. If we were just recording songs out of hand, it wouldn't mean anything."

Meanwhile Back At Mama's will be contending for both Best Duet or Group Performance and Best Song at the Grammys this weekend.

McGraw claims that any nomination is an honor, but there is something really wonderful about being nominated with Hill.

"When you got those nominations in in general is very special," he noted, "But to have it with my wife, and to have my first Grammy I ever won be with my wife. It never gets old doing something like that."

McGraw and Hill continue to live in the countryside with their three daughters.

The 57th Annual Grammy Awards will air live on CBS from Los Angeles on Sunday, Feb. 8 at 8 p.m. ET.
