Gone never means gone for good on The Originals, but it looks like Daniel Sharman won't be returning as Kol this season.

Klaus Will Be Raising 'Hell' On 'The Originals'

The charismatic Teen Wolf alum charmed audiences, and Davina (Daniel Campbell) as troublemaker Kol on The Originals this season. Unfortunately, his run as Klaus' brother was short-lived and he was killed by Finn's (Yusuf Gatewood) magic after Hayley (Phoebe Tonkin) and Jackson's (Nathan Parsons) wedding.

Of course, Rebekah (Maisie Richardson-Sellers) swore she'd find a way to bring him back, but will she succeed? Is it possible Sharman could return as Kol? Producers were definitely impressed with Sharman's performance throughout season two, but the odds of him returning anytime soon aren't likely.

Hayley & Jackson Struggling With Marriage On 'The Originals'

On Thursday Deadline announced that the young actor is set to star as a an incredibly talented surgical resident named Joe in the upcoming CBS drama, LFE. If the series takes off, it might be difficult for the actor to return to The CW anytime soon. So even if Kol does return, it won't be in the same body.

There's been plenty of body swapping this season, from a resurrected Finn to Rebekah's recent stint as a witch. Kol coming back in a new body wouldn't be anything new, though it might mean an adjustment for Davina, who fell for him hard during the last few episodes.

The Originals will return on The CW for the remainder of its second season Monday, March 9 at 8 p. m. ET/PT.
