The Blacklist's Harold Cooper has an aversion to happy finales.

'The Blacklist' Season 2 Spoilers: EP On Red's 'Horrible' Wound, Liz's Chance To Step Up

After nearly being strangled during last spring's "Berlin: Conclusion," the FBI's assistant director immediately took on another life-threatening challenge. With terminal cancer attempting to put him in the ground, Cooper spend season 2's finale locked in another mortal battle.

"That might fall into the realm of cliffhangers and surprising storytelling," series creator Bokenkamp teased in regards to Cooper's medical situation, according to TV Line. "He's in a bad place. That is definitely a storyline that we're going to be embracing and wrestling with until the end of the season."

Ominously enough, Bokenkamp reaffirmed the NBC drama's lack of fear when it comes to knocking off their main characters. The finale could easily see any member of the team join Meera in the afterlife.

"Those things that sometimes scare us in the writers' room are often the things that we find most exciting, and we try to surprise ourselves," Bokenkamp told TV Line.

Just as long as The Blacklist writers don't become quite as murderous as The 100's scribes...
