The BBC drama will fold Norse mythology into episodes 5 and six, according to Blogtor Who, and the presence of Viking-era thatched houses means Twelve's (Peter Capaldi) new opponent could be mixing it up with Odin.

A second photo of the baddie shows it comes complete with a vicious looking gun and the universes' bulkiest armor. Set to appear in "The Girl Who Died" and "The Woman Who Lived," the reason behind the creature's earthly visit remains unknown.

However, it is safe to assume that the alien will have something to do with David Schofield's Odin and Game of Throne's Maisie Williams guest appearance.

Penned by Jamie Mathieson and Steven Moffat, "The Girl Who Died" will be the first half of a period-based two-part episode and will air as the fifth installment of season 9. Episode 6, "The Woman Who Lived," comes form the mind of Catherine Tregenna and will air as episode 6.
