It's been awhile since we heard anything about former Yankees star Derek Jeter and his longtime girlfriend Hannah Davis; but now the couple is making headlines after another baseball player gets close with the model.

It's none other than Alex Rodriguez a.k.a. A-Rod. He was spotted cozying up with Davis at the 13th annual BTIG Commissions for Charity Day this past Tuesday, New York Daily News reported. Interestingly enough, Jeter missed that event. But Rodriguez was there to keep her company. He put his arm around her waist in one of the pictures that's making its way around the Internet.

Rodriguez attended the event to stand by the Boys and Girls Club of America. Davis was in tow because of her involvement with Czech model Petra Nemcova's Happy Heart's Fund.

But before readers jump the gun, Davis and Rodriguez only got close for the snapshots. They weren't seen talking with one another very many times after that. Still, Jeter and Rodriguez have their own history of a mini beef that makes the story a little more interesting.

Rodriguez threw a little shade at Jeter back in 2001 in Esquire magazine.

"[He's] never had to lead. He can just go and play and have fun," Rodriguez said. "You go into New York, you wanna stop Bernie [Williams] and Paul [O'Neill]. You never say, 'Don't let Derek beat us' He's never your concern."

The two ended up playing for the Yankees together. Since the comment Rodriguez has been said to be attempting to "prove himself as a good guy."
