Jussie Smollett is spilling lots of secrets about the new season of Empire.

Lee Daniels Confirms ‘There Is Going To Be A Spinoff’ For ‘Empire’

The Fox series is slated to return for its highly anticipated sophomore season on Sept. 23. While fans wait, Smollett, who plays the lovable Jamal Lyon, dished on what viewers will be seeing this season.

For starters, latest celebrity revealed to be making an appearance on the show is none other than Mariah Carey!

Smollett told People Friday during the HollyRod Foundation’s 17th Annual DesignCare Glaa, “That rumor is true. That makes me feel so good to say that rumor is true.”

But he’s not the one to break the news first. The series’ co-creator Lee Daniels bromide the announcement when Carey received her own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

He proudly yelled to the crowd, “Watch her on ‘Empire’ you guys!”

She hasn’t taped her scenes yet but Smollett isn’t worried about any tension with the R&B diva on set.

“She’s just the best. She says ‘darling’ a lot. But I say ‘darling’ too as a joke,s o it works perfectly. The friendship works very well. She’s a good human being an d a really sweet lady…don’t get me wrong, she’s a diva.”

He revealed that she doesn’t even own a pair of flats.

“That’s why she has dope calf muscles [She has] the greatness of a diva, but [is also] the regular, chill girl that you just want to chill with.”

Chris Rock, Alicia Keys and Ludacris are set to be on the show this season too.
