After the 11th episode of season 5, titled Swan Song, Once Upon a Time is going on a three-month hiatus. Swan Song airs on Dec. 6 and the show will take an extended winter break until March 6.

ABC announced their midseason schedule this week, revealing the long hiatus ahead. The network has used this tactic for the past two seasons, with the first half of the season ending in December and the second half of the season beginning in March.

Will Jamie Dornan Return For The 100th 'Once Upon a Time' Episode?

But the premiere of the second half of the season won't just be any ordinary episode of Once Upon a Time. They are going all out for this episode - which just so happens to be the 100th episode. Old characters are returning for the special episode, including Cora (Barbara Hershey), Peter Pan (Robbie Kay), Sidney Glass (Giancarlo Esposito) and more.

The 100th episode will be a special tribute to longtime fans of the series. Once Upon a Time co-creators Edward Kitsis and Adam Horowitz spoke of what they have planned for the 100th episode in a recent Variety interview.

"What we're really excited about is, we feel like we're going to be honoring the show by really giving you that season one feeling all over again," Kitsis said.

Once Upon a Time airs Sundays at 8 p.m. ET/PT on ABC. The similarly fantastical series Galavant will take its place in this timeslot during the winter break.
