It looks like Jill Duggar and Derick Dillard are trying to make the best out of their situation in Central America. After being heavily criticized for supposedly using donation money from fans for their own personal use, the couple is supposedly having a hard time communicating with the locals during their missionary trip to Guatemala.

Did Jill Duggar Not Make It Home For The Holidays?

According to Star Pulse on Tuesday, Derick himself admitted that he's struggling with his Spanish lessons while Jill is managing to learn the language a little better than her husband. The language barrier has proven to be a huge roadblock for the couple, considering that many people don't speak English in their community.

"There's, like, a hundred thousand Spanish words," Derick stated, "and I know, like, 136 of them, so I have a long ways to go there."

Have Jill Duggar And Derick Dillard Given Up On Reality Television?

Even with the language issues, it doesn't look like the couple is giving up on their missionary work just yet, as Jill says that they are slowly but surely making progress.

In a blog post on the Dillard Family Blog, the reality television stars, who also have their 8-month-old son Israel David on the trip with them, shared that learning and practicing conversational Spanish every day is very important and it has "opened up good opportunities" to talk about the Bible and pray with their teachers.

The couple have been criticized for supposedly wanting to convert Catholics, but they insist that they are only there to preach "the word of the Lord."

It's uncertain how long Jill and Derick plan on being in Guatemala or if they plan on returning to their native Arkansas anytime soon. Stay tuned with Enstars for all the latest updates on Jill Duggar, Derick Dillard and all of your favorite reality television stars right here.
