The past is no longer a mystery on Wayward Pines. In fact, the town will get its own history in season 2.

'Wayward Pines' Season 2: Series Snags Sophomore Run, What's Next For Ben?

Last year, Ethan gave his life to bring the truth to the residents of Jenkin's little science experiment. When the First Generation took over, it looked like life in the Pines has taken one step forward and about a hundred steps back. The casting of Djimon Hounsou as CJ Mitchum, however, indicates that the futuristic world may not be as bleak as we once thought.

"[CJ Mitchum is] an original resident of Wayward Pines and a historian for the town with extensive knowledge of its complex origins, and the one person who can provide a unique bridge between the current world of Wayward Pines and the previous world that humans inhabited."

The First Generation used to be the keepers of Wayward Pines' big secret, but now it appears the past will be common knowledge.

Hounsou isn't the only newbie fans should expect this fall. Jason Patric will also join the cast as a surgeon by the name of Dr. Theo Yedlin.

Wayward Pines will return to Fox later this year.
