Chatter On 'American Idol' Final 6 Contestants

On Friday, Billboard announced that Adam Lambert will be singing on the show in next Thursday's episode in what is supposed to be a "very special final performance."

Lambert was on the show in Season 8 where he made all the way to second place. He was beaten out by Kris Allen.

It was also revealed that only one contestant this season will be eliminated in the next episode since others had double eliminations. The remaining six are La'Porsha Renae, Trent Harmon, Dalton Rapattoni, Tristan McIntosh, Sonika Vaid and Mackenzie Bourg.

Lambert's album The Original High includes big hits like "Ghost Town" and "Another Lonely Night." In a previous interview with Official Charts, the singer opened up on how he decided to go with "Another Lonely Night" as the next big hit.

"Picking the second single was hard!" he said. "It's a great position to be in- we really felt like there's a lot of radio-friendly songs on the album and a lot of directions we could go. The main thing I like to do is change it up. Even going back to 'American Idol,' from week to week I would bounce around with different styles, genres and moods. That mentality is the same today- I don't want to repeat myself."

American Idol returns on Thursday, March 17 at 8 p.m. ET on FOX.
