Bates Motel will explore the tension with Norman, his mother and the man her son pretty much hates.

On Wednesday, a promo for next week's episode was released that shows Norman and Norma in the same bed where the Bates boy is feeling distant from the woman who raised him. It shows just how cold their relationship is-- literally.

Norman is fully dressed as if he's going out in the snow yet he's buried under covers saying how he thought it would feel warmer sleeping in the same bed with Norma. But with all the horrible drama they've been through, things can't be warm at this point.

Norma has also developed a relationship with Sheriff Romero and Norman is not handling it well at all.

The son tries to talk things out with the sheriff where it sounds scary all around. Romero says things change, but Norman won't allow that. In fact, it gets to the point where his behavior gets more erratic and he scrapes a hole in the wall.

For all the Psycho fans out there, a little reference to the film happens- a rather iconic moment that involved Marion Crane when someone was watching her before her final moments.

Check it out below.

Meanwhile, Freddie Highmore, who plays Norman, previously dished to Hey U Guys on how his character will always have some kind of connection with mother and what that means for Romero.

"No matter what [Norman and Norma] will always have to be together," Highmore said. "That pits Norman against Sheriff Romero this season and their rivalry develops. I guess from Norman's perspective there's this slightly analytical look that we haven't done before, a deeper look at his psyche and what's really going on under all of that and if he can be saved."

Bates Motel airs on Mondays at 9 p.m. ET on A&E.
