George Lopez is heading back to the world of sitcoms. FX has announced it has picked up his latest venture, a half-hour program called Saint George.

According to USA Today, the comedian's new show revolves around familiar topics for Lopez- an entrepreneurial Mexican-American with an ex-wife, an pre-adolecent son, and an mother who has moved back in. The show will be given a 10/90 model by the network, which means FX will order 10 episodes of the show as a start, and if it achieves the desired ratings, they agree to order 90 more.

"The 10/90 model requires a unique individual who has the ability to pull off this kind of daunting schedule," said Chuck Saftler, FX executive vice president, according to Digital Spy. "George is that guy, and we couldn't be happier that he chose FX as the home for his new project."

The series will be produced by Lionsgate and is co-created by Lopez, Matt Williams, and David McFadzean, reports TVbytheNumbers.

"In the tradition of George's frank and fearless standup comedy, 'Saint George' will reflect his no-holds-barred comedic take on the tensions surrounding race, class, sex and family life in Los Angeles through the eyes of a man straddling two separate cultures," said Kevin Beggs, president of Lionsgate TV Group, according to Aceshowbiz.

George Lopez previously played on the ABC sitcom George Lopez and had a the late night talk show Lopez Tonight on TBS until 2011.
