Did Brad Pitt secretly contact his ex-wife, Jennifer Aniston, after the death of her mother?

According to a new report, Pitt and his current wife, Angelina Jolie, were recently enjoying a private moment with one another when suddenly, Pitt mentioned that he had reached out to the 47-year-old Friends actress.

“It was their first moment in months without the kids or staff around,” a source told In Touch Weekly on Wednesday. “Angie thought a good one-on-one conversation would enable them to finally catch up on their lives. Then, Brad casually mentioned that he’d reached out to Jen to send his sympathy after her mom passed away in May. He didn’t think it was a big deal.”

Pitt and Aniston were married from 2000 to 2005, when he went public with Jolie after falling in love with the 41-year-old on the set of Mr. & Mrs. Smith. Then, in August 2014, after welcoming three children of their own, Shiloh, 10, and twins Vivienne and Knox, 7, and adopting three more, Maddox, 14, Pax, 12, and Zahara, 11, Pitt and Jolie got married.

“To Angie, it was akin to Brad dropping a nuclear bomb,” the source said. “She was furious they’d reunited.”

Pitt's alleged conversation with Aniston comes just weeks after she and Theroux were rumored to be facing a divorce -- at the same time Pitt and Jolie were headed for a split.

“Brad and Angelina are completely in divorce mode and at a point where they barely speak to each other unless it’s about the kids,” a source told In Touch Weekly, via Gossip Cop, with another insider revealing Aniston and Theroux's marriage was "doomed."
