MTV Releases 'It Gets Better' Trailer
MTV has released a trailer for its upcoming 'It Gets Better' TV special which follows three teens as they deal with the emotional and societal struggles of begin gay, lesbian, and transgender.
The trailer, released Wednesday, previews the hour long special, set to air on February 21 on both MTV and LOGO at 11 p.m. EST.
The 'It Gets Better' organization had its beginnings in an online video post in 2010 by co-founder Dan Savage encouraging teens to look forward to a time when bullying over being gay could subside.
The message offering hope to teens in difficult situations has gotten support from celebrities, some of which will appear in the TV special. In 2010, President Obama released an anti-bullying video in support of the message.
The special, initially announced February 1 is jointly produced by MTV, Savage Media LLC, Octagon Entertainment and Snackaholic Productions.
"The lives of these three young people will resonate with millions of teens -- gay and straight -- who are being bullied for simply being themselves," Savage said in a statement released on February 1.
Along with focusing on the three teens, Savage and his partner will share their hopeful sentiments, along with celebrities sharing their personal video thought throughout the special. Adam Levine, Zachary Quinto, Margaret Cho, Chaz Bono, "Jersey Shore's" Vinny Guadagnino, Dave Holmes, Sia and Jake Shears are all set to appear.
