Wendy Williams’ daytime television talk show has gotten a huge shakeup with its producers just ahead of its new season premiere.

“The crew had a big party celebrating what they considered a season well done,” one insider told The Jasmine Brand Monday. “The next day [some of them] got calls saying they’d been let go.”

Word has spread that The Wendy Williams Show let go of many of its producers; possibly because of the NAACP and HBCU controversy. Williams stated last month that she didn’t understand why those organizations existed. But she later changed her stance after getting a history lesson from TV One News One Now host Roland Martin days later (see that below). Still, the fallout from Williams’ original comments, which included in losing a huge sponsorship from Chevrolet, is said to be a factor in the show giving many of its producers; including Jason Gabel and more than two senior staff members the pink slip.

Another insider told Page Six that show runners want to move the show into a slightly different direction. Viewers will most likely see more political affairs and pop culture topics. It’s not clear if this means the gossip portion of the show will decline, but it’s safe to say that many changes will be noticeable when the talk show returns.

Williams has not spoken on the matter yet and it is possible she will stay quiet about this one.
