Once Upon a Time is introducing three new characters from the world of Aladdin into the series, but may not include any others.

Season 6 of Once Upon a Time will feature Aladdin (Deniz Akdeniz), Jasmine (Karen David) and Jafar (Oded Fehr) in prominent roles. This was teased at Comic-Con in July, with a clip of season 6's opening scene featuring a conversation between Aladdin and Jafar. Of course, there are other characters from the popular film that could be included, including the Genie and Abu, but don't expect to see them anytime soon, if at all.

Once Upon a Time executive producers Edward Kitsis and Adam Horowitz spoke about this in a new interview with The Hollywood Reporter, admitting that they are essentially focusing on Aladdin, Jasmine and Jafar.

"There certainly are nods to the film that we all love so much, that we're peppering in throughout. We're, right now, focusing on those three," Horowitz said.

"Obviously, I don't think we would touch the genie," Kitsis added, likely due to the late Robin Williams' iconic voice performance. "I would like to see a monkey but I can't promise anything. I think, whereas some stories, like 'Frozen', we were very faithful to 'Frozen', I think you will see 'Aladdin' will have its own 'Once' twist."

With the arrival of Aladdin comes some new questions in what it means to be the Savior, especially for Emma (Jennifer Morrison).

"I would say that the fact that there's another Savior out there and last year we dove into Dark One mythology, I'd say this year we're going to dive into Savior mythology. That's kind of how Aladdin would impact our characters," Kitsis said.

Once Upon a Time season 6 premieres Sunday, Sept. 25 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on ABC.
