FastPokeMap is one of the more useful third-party apps when locating in Pokémon GO, but why do certain locations not work as well as others?

Pokémon GO players have been using FastPokeMap to help better assist their Poké-hunting, by narrowing down and pinpointing exact areas where Pokémon are hiding. While many have found great success through use of this app/website, there have been a few issues that have come up. For one, some are wondering why Pokemon don't seem to show up in their area.

Luckily, there's a FAQ section on the FastPokeMap site that addresses why, for example, Pokemon tend to show up in Central Park but not so much in your hometown.

"Since the scan radius is so small, FastPokeMap is most effective when there are a lot of people using it. With more people scanning around, more monsters will be discovered," they write. "Central Park is a popular area, so lots of people are using it, which then means more monsters are discovered. You could try inviting your friends to use this site to scan around your town. The more the merrier!"

And if your area doesn't even show up on the map, "Our maps are provided by a third party (we're very grateful to them). While they're great for some areas, other areas unfortunately haven't mapped out yet. This is definitely on our list of problems to solve. We're sorry for the meanwhile! One crude workaround is that you can try zooming out of the map."

Also, while using the site/app, you may notice the spinning scanner turns red instead of green. This means that the server is busy. "We're a small team and we're working hard to increase our capacity to keep up with the amount of users on our site. Just keep trying until you get a scan through!"

The FastPokeMap creator answers these and many other questions on their site.
