Pokemon GO trackers have been a pretty controversial issue since the blockbuster augmented reality game debuted a couple of months ago. Now, with popular third-party trackers such as PokeVision being shut down and its best alternative, FastPokeMap, seemingly about to get the ax soon, another creative Pokemon tracker is emerging to provide players with a viable way to track Pokemon in their area.

Niantic Labs has always been very adamant about the use of third-party trackers, with the developer being very vigilant about the applications that gamers are using. This has led to the emergence and shutdown of popular third-party applications that provide help for players of the game.

Third-party trackers do not show any signs of slowing down, however, especially with Niantic still refusing to provide players with an official Pokemon tracking app in the game.

Since Niantic disabled the official in-game Pokemon GO tracker, applications such as PokeVision have taken over to provide players with the necessary services needed to get the most out of the game.

i4u News states that so far, FastPokeMap has been the most popular third-party application that gamers have been using in the wildly popular game. Since emerging as the ideal replacement for PokeVision, FastPokeMap has managed to gain millions of supporters.

Recently, the game has already reached 15 million users, which, according to its creator, means that the service will probably shut down soon. With the service about to be shut down, the creator of the tracker has endorsed an ideal replacement for FastPokeMap, OpenPokeMap.

OpenPokeMap is, unlike other trackers before it, open source. This means that the tracker's codes will be open to any player of the game. According to its creator, OpenPokeMap even enables Pokemon GO players to host their own local Pokemon stack, according to iTech Post.

The open-source tracker is quite rife with features as well, with push notifications for the tracker being enabled for both Android and iOS users. Apart from this, the iOS version of the application even has an IV calculator. Lastly, OpenPokeMap even has a fairly sleek user interface, making its utilization very engaging.

One thing that players must be aware of with OpenPokeMap, however, is that the tracker keeps its services by the use of advertisements. Thus, players who would be using the tracker would have to deal with ads. Nevertheless, the developer of OpenPokeMap has made the tracker ad-blocker friendly. Thus, players using AdBlock Plus, or any other ad-blocker, would still be able to use the tracker.
