Paula Deen explained away her use of the N-word because she is old and southern.

The cooking maven released a statement through Paula Deen Enterprises for her actions. The statement read that Deen was born and raised during a time when her use of the slur was acceptable.

"...[Paula] was born 60 years ago when America's South had schools that were segregated, different bathrooms, different restaurants and Americans rode in different parts of the bus. This is not today," the statement read.

Deen has been under fire since Wednesday when a deposition leaked that revealed she admitting using the N-word. She also expressed a fantasy of having black men dress up as slaves for a wedding while under oath. The Emmy Award winning cooking personality made the admission of using the N-world while being videotaped and was questioned for three hours.

Deen is the defendant in a $1.2 million dollar lawsuit filed against Deen and her family in 2012. The former General Manager of their Savannah, Georgia, restaurant, Lisa Jackson, claimed that Deen used the N-word. Jackson also alleged sexual harassment and infliction of distress and assault by Deen's brother Earl "Bubba" Hiers.

Deen's admittance did not sit well with talk show host, Wendy Williams. She blasted Deen during an appearance on Entertainment Tonight on Thursday.

"She seems to think that it's okay. It's not okay. It just goes to show you money doesn't buy you class, it only exposes who you really are. Stupid is as stupid does," Williams said.

Despite Williams' outrage, she did not feel that the consequences would be long lasting. Williams commented that Deen amassed her fortune before the revelations were made. Therefore, she would be just fine.

"It's definitely tarnished her image and brand. Fortunately for Paula, all of this ignorance has fallen out of her mouth after she's amassed more money than she'll know how to spend in her lifetime," she said.
