The massive speculation over who will land the highly coveted role of Christian Grey in the movie adaptation of E.L. James' Fifty Shades of Grey continues to build, as yet another name has worked its way into the prospect pool in Zac Efron.

While the actor is mostly known for his past work on Disney's High School Musical, he's undoubtedly matured up since, which includes partaking in a sex scene with Nicole Kidman for 2012's The Paperboy.

Which his rather large female fan base and piercing blue eyes, Efron surely has what it takes to pull off a convincing Grey. Although the actor is only 24-years-old and the fictional character is described as 27, the age gap would surely not play a huge factor. However, some may argue that he's too short at 5' 8".

Efron aside, several other potential suitors have recently come up, including The Originals' Joseph Morgan and Captain America: The Winter Soldier's Dominic Cooper, and On The Road's Tom Sturridge.

In terms of the initial Comic-Con chatter of a casting, James recently took to Twitter to clarify the rumors that the cast would be announced at the San Diego convention over the weekend.

"I dunno where this rumour started that the cast would be revealed at Comic Con...but it is just that - a rumour. (Sighs)."

Fifty Shades of Grey is scheduled to kick off on the big screen on Thursday, August 1, 2014. Be sure to keep checking back for more of the latest info on the erotic film. Efron can be watched in a fan-made trailer portraying him as Grey below.
