The 50 Shades of Grey movie casting chatter continues to dominate the web, as fans of E.L. James' original books continue to wonder just who will land the role of Christian Grey.

One of the names that's seemed to have flown under the radar as of late is Star Trek's Chris Pine.

With his blue eyes, masculine features and chiseled physique, several female 50 Shades loyalists would surely agree with such a casting.

Interestingly enough, the 32-year-old actor had explained to Celebuzz back in 2012 about how his name initially came up for the part of the S&M-crazed billionaire character.

"The only reason this came out is because I was asked on the red carpet in Las Vegas if I had read it, or If I was interested in it. On red carpets as people throw questions at you, you try and answer as quickly as possible," he said.

While Pine was quick to discount his clout at obtaining the groundbreaking part, he also had no qualms about admitting he wasn't well-versed in the erotic read.

"But I don't know anything about it other than I know many women that are reading the novels, and enjoy them very much," he said.

However, the actor did acknowledge that he would be open to such a role.

"If it's a good script, I'd take a look at it, but I don't know anything other than that," Pine said.

Pine was queried by Access Hollywood about the Grey role, and said, "It'd be a hell of a choice for me, I think. It sounds like an interesting film."

50 Shades of Grey is scheduled to kick off on the big screen on Thursday, August 1, 2014. Be sure to keep checking back for more of the latest info on the erotic film. Check out a fan-made Pine portraying Christian Grey video clip below.
