Kobe Bryant and his daughter Gianna Bryant, otherwise referred to as Gigi, died tragically in a helicopter accident near Calabasas, California two years ago today.

Bryant was a shooting guard for the LA Lakers. He was a celebrated player and well beloved by all, including his wife Vanessa Bryant and children Natalia Diamante Bryant, age 19, Bianka Bella Bryant, age 5, Capri Kobe Bryant, age 2, and  Gianna Maria-Onore Bryant, who passed at the age of 14 alongside her father. Gigi took after her father in her passion for the sport, declaring proudly, "I will play in the WNBA, I promise," by the time she was in the fourth grade.

She was a determined go-getter, impressing everyone who met her. Her father proudly said, "This kid, man... I'm telling you, The best thing that happens is when we go out, and fans will come up to me, and she'll be standing next to me, and they will be like, 'You gotta have a boy, you and V [wife Vanessa] gotta have a boy, man, to have somebody carry on the tradition, the legacy.' And [Gigi] is like, 'I got this!'...That's right. Yes, you do. You got this." She had dreams of attending the University of Connecticut and playing for their women's team. At the time of her death, the team draped a jersey with the number two, her player number, over a bench seat to pay tribute to the motivated fourteen year old.

Kobe Bryant memorably spoke the powerful words, "You are responsible for how people remember you-or don't. So don't take it lightly." He has left behind a legacy of power and positivity. Our hearts go out to the family, friends, and fans of Kobe and Gigi Bryant. Here are some pictures to commemorate their lives.
