Comedian Amy Schumer mocked celebrities taking a break from social media, interestingly, just hours after a mental health announcement from Tom Holland.

The "I Feel Pretty" actress star turned to Instagram and shared a parody video of a common occurrence among celebrities that resort to "social media detox". The controversial clip starts with her announcing that she will be using social media more to "help" with her mental health.

"I find that looking at my phone for eight and a half hours a day is helping me. And it's helping this pimple patch and this breakout," the comedian-actress joked. Schumer added, "And being in my 40s, it's actually really good for me to watch all of Love Islands and all of The Bachelors." Schumer added. "So you'll be seeing a lot more of me on social media just for my physical and mental wellbeing."

Coincidentally, the parody video came hours after Tom Holland had just announced his break from social media on Instagram, while promoting the teenage mental health charity he sponsors, Stem4, and its various apps which he had described as "really helpful". "I get caught up and I spiral when I read things about me online. And ultimately, it's very detrimental to my mental state. So I decided to take a step back and delete the app," he continued in the candid video.

However, on Schumer's now-expired Instagram story, she clarified that she was not mocking Tom Holland, and was only poking fun at herself and her own social media consumption.

"Not shading Spider-Man. Making fun of myself. Of course social media is toxic!" She wrote on her Instagram story.

Schumer's Video Sparks Outrage

While most commenters on her Instagram post gave fans a laugh at her skit, netizens on Twitter do not share the same sentiments. Despite her clarification, it seems that the comedian has "Spiderman" fans pressed for the insensitive dig at mental health.

Some Tweets have also dug up Schumer's recent comment of feeling "triggered and traumatized" after the infamous Will Smith Oscar slap.
