Queen Elizabeth II showed clear signs of deteriorating health before her death, including the instances where she could no longer the Imperial State Crown.

Queen Elizabeth II's health was bombarded with rumors in the months leading to her death. While some of which were proven though, Her Majesty herself clearly showed signs of deteriorating status.

Radar Online recently reported that the Queen felt "too weak" to the point that she could no longer wear her heavy crown during royal engagements. For instance, she delivered her State Opening of Parliament in 2019 while only wearing a tiara instead of the usual Imperial State Crown.

The crown reportedly weighs more than three pounds, making it hard for the Queen to carry it the way she used to. It has 2,868 diamonds, 269 pearls, 11 emeralds, and 17 sapphires.

With that, royal fans started to question why she did not wear the Imperial State Crown despite it having a huge role in the event.

"It was a shock to say the least. The State Opening of Parliament is a sacred ceremony and wearing the crown is part of it. People were whispering under their breath," an insider said at that time.

While her recent blue hands sparked cancer rumors, Queen Elizabeth II actually stirred talks about the dreaded disease as early as that time.

For fans, failing to wear the crown became a huge sign that she did not have long to live anymore.

Queen Elizabeth II sparked the rumors again when she did not wear both the crown and ceremonial robes during the 2021 State Opening of Parliament.

All About the Imperial State Crown

When Queen Elizabeth II's coffin left Buckingham Palace, royal fans witnessed the crown again on top of the casket. It guided everyone as royal family members and staff accompanied her to Westminster Hall during the procession.

According to the Historical Royal Palace's website, the Imperial State Crown was created for Queen Victoria during her coronation in 1838. It was remade when King Edward II took over the throne in 1937.

According to royal biographer Robert Lacey, Her Majesty found St. Edward's crown heavy. The crown in question was made for the coronation of Charles II in 1661.

After wearing it for a short time, the Queen started wearing the Imperial State Crown instead.
