BTS' Jimin may be fulfilling his mandatory military service in the South Korean army right now, but he seemed to have prepared something in advance for ARMYs -- BTS fans -- to enjoy while he is away and can't communicate as much with them.

On Thursday, BigHit announced through Weverse the release of Jimin's digital single, "Closer Than This."

Per the announcement, "Closer Than This" is "a heartfelt fan song that encapsulates Jimin's genuine feelings for ARMY," which aims to convey the BTS member's love and affection for his fans and bring them hope and warmth as the year ends.

"Closer Than This" is scheduled for release on Friday, 2 p.m. KST.

With this surprise announcement, ARMYs, especially Jimin stans, celebrated and shared their excitement on X, formerly Twitter, making the phrase "JIMIN IS COMING" trend on the platform.

Other Jimin-related trends, including #CloserThanThis, #ThisIsJimin, "PARK JIMIN," "Jiminie" and "NEW SONG," trended worldwide, too, per JIMIN DATA.

"New Jimin song, new Jimin present! Jimin is sending us love and warmth as the year ends, even while he is away and communicate as much. Let's support and enjoy his precious gift, #CloserThanThis!" tweeted one Jimin fan base account.

"Everything Jimin does is so endearing and sweet," wrote a Jimin fan, while a third netizen stated, "We're loved by him."

"I really think it's impossible to find artists that love their fans as much as BTS loves ARMY. We are so lucky to get actual love letter songs dedicated to us," commented another.

"Santa Mimi says, 'Here, take 'Closer Than This' since you all miss me so bad,'" quipped someone else.

Meanwhile, Cafe Magnate, a cafe owned by Jimin's dad in Busan, posted about the release of "Closer Than This" on its Instagram account and even sent a heartwarming message to ARMYs, saying, "Take care of your health. The weather is cold, but at heart, I hope you are warm."

The cafe also announced a drip bag event it will be holding on the day of the release of Jimin's new song, which will benefit 13 lucky winners.

Jimin enlisted in the South Korean military on Dec. 12 with his bandmate Jungkook. Before the day of his enlistment, the 28-year-old artist went live on Weverse to have a last chat with ARMYs.

Jimin will serve a total of eighteen months in the military and will be discharged around June 2025.
