Justin Bieber gave the "My Old Ass" team a pleasant surprise after approving the use of one of his songs from 2009 in the coming-of-age comedy film.

Megan Park, the film's director, shared during a post-Sundance Film Festival screening Q&A last Saturday that they were unsure if the pop singer would let them use his song "One Less Lonely Girl" in their film at first.

"Once he gave us the go-ahead, we were thrilled. We leaned into it even more. Everybody was so game to just play and have fun," she said.

Park added that her Canadian roots heavily influenced the "My Old Ass" soundtrack. This is why she wanted Justin's song to be highlighted in the film.

One of her goals for the film was to bring viewers back to special moments in their younger years.

"One Less Lonely Girl" was one of the tracks on the pop star's debut EP "My World" in 2009.

Bieber's hit song is featured in a nostalgic scene where young Elliott Labrant (played by Maisy Stella) performs "One Less Lonely Girl" in character as Bieber, alongside her backup dancers.

"Doing the Bieber sequence was probably one of my favorite days of filming. I couldn't get out of it," Stella told Women's Wear Daily of the scene.

She continued, "Once I embodied Bieber, I couldn't shake it off. For the next couple [of] days, I kept slipping back into my Bieber habits."
