The Fifty Shades of Grey movie casting frenzy continues, as former Gossip Girls standout Chace Crawford is now reportedly in serious contention for the highly anticipated role of the S&M-crazed billionaire CEO, Christian Grey.

In an installment of On Air with Ryan Seacrest, the American Idol host stated that Crawford is being considered for the role of Grey alongside another top candidate for the flick in Australian actress Lauren Watson as Anastasia Steele.

Crawford has expressed interest in taking on the groundbreaking role, recently telling Fox411 that he "would love the challenge."

When the 28-year-old was queried on whether or not he'd be comfortable with the sex sequences that would come with playing Grey, he joked that he's "only comfortable with S&M sex scenes! The other ones are just too simple and boring to me."

Fifty Shades screenwriter Kelly Marcel, who's currently hard at work on the script, stated that she'd be adhering to the content of author E.L. James' books with lots of sex and raunchiness. Only time will truly tell who ultimately will become the next Grey.
