The premiere release date for season 3 and three new specials for Here Comes Honey Boo Boo have been announced.

TLC ordered 12 more episodes for the show's new season and the network will air a New Year special on Jan. 1 of 2014 at 9 p.m. capturing the "unconventional honeymoon" of  Shannon "Mama June" Thompson and Mike "Sugar Bear" Thompson. The network also lined up two more specials.

A statement from TLC said that the season premiere will feature "an unconventional honeymoon that is sure to start fireworks." Filming for the new season took place this summer and "with the kids out of school...the family is forced to spend every moment together...for better or for worse. The result: an unpredictable and bizarre family road trip that will go down in reality television history."

"The world continues to be fascinated by the Boo Boo gang and their crazy hijinks," said Howard Lee, executive vice president of production and development for TLC. "As Alana gets older, the dynamic between her parents and sisters is changing. Viewers can look forward to seeing a different side of the family as they embark on this exciting new chapter of their lives."

The Thompson family was spotted shooting scenes in north Georgia earlier in September, less than a week after the season 2 finale aired. They reportedly were filming the new season of their show. The family stopped by Lake Winnepesaukah in Rossville on Sept. 14 and later enjoyed a night out at Vaudeville Cafe in Chattanooga.

The season 2 finale featured Mama June's wedding to Sugar Bear. Alana Thompson was the flower girl at the commitment ceremony, which took place on May 5 in the backyard of the family's Georgia home.
