Dancing With the Stars contestant Bill Nye is recovering from the knee injury he incurred on his latest dance.

The television personality posted a photo of himself on Instagram at a doctor's office this week with the caption, "Here is the scoop: partially torn ligament. Awaiting the doc's orders with [dancing partner] Tyne [Stecklein]. We plan to dance! Stand by..."

Nye also posted the photo on Twitter, writing, "Working w/ a partially torn ligament. Plan to be dancin' next week. Stand by (or rather, elevate your leg by...)."

The injury occurred during Nye's dance on Monday, Sept. 23. The 57-year-old scientist stepped on one of the pant legs of his slacks and fell to the ground but he did not reveal his injury on the show. It is still unknown if Nye will continue onward in the competition.

"The doctor told us, 'No more. You're done,'" Stecklein told ABC in a recent interview. However, she added that their fans have been supportive, so they have no intention of pulling out of the competition unless they have to.

"I want to try it," Nye said, on participating in next Monday's show. "I want to try to pull it off." Should he still be able to participate, he and Stecklein will dance the Jive on Monday's "Hollywood Night."

Despite getting the lowest scores from the judges in the first two weeks, Nye is still in the competition from the help of the public vote. Former NFL wide receiver Keyshawn Johnson was the first celebrity eliminated from the competition on Monday.

The next episode of Dancing With the Stars airs Monday, Sept. 30 at 8 p.m. on ABC.
