The highly anticipated second season of Orange is the New Black will feature a very different side of Piper Chapman, according to the actress who portrays her.

Taylor Schilling, who plays the show's lead character, said at the Orange is the New Black Season 2 Premiere event Thursday that fans will see a new side of Piper.

"She goes to places we've never seen her before, and she's learning a lot more about herself," Schilling told Mashable. "Piper's put into new situations that she never thought she would be put in, and there are different parts of her that start to emerge."

Steamy Scenes Ahead For Piper & Alex In Season 2?

Fans witnessed her gradual transformation throughout Season 1, culminating in a big showdown between her and Pennsatucky (Taryn Manning) in the season finale.

While Piper deals with the love triangle that is her relationships with both Larry (Jason Biggs) and Alex (Laura Prepon), she will also have to deal with her mother. Deborah Rush, who plays Piper's mother Carol, warned, "don't expect things to go smoothly."

The second season features "bigger flashbacks," particularly for Piper. There will be a flashback to Piper's younger years, where actress Clare Foley will portray her. Foley noted, "She's really a daddy's girl."

The season will also spend more time allowing the audience to get to know some of the secondary characters.

"It's all going to be good," Schilling said.
