Day 3 of the 2012 Olympic Games had swimming finals for both men and women with plenty of gold, silver and bronze medals being handed out.

France's Yannick Agnel got the gold medal in the men's 200-meter freestyle with a finish time of 1:43:14. Not far behind, with a 1:44:93 relay, was Korea's Taehwan Park  and China's Yang Sun tying for the silver medal, resulting in no bronze medal being handed out.

In the women's 100-meter backstroke, Team USA's Missy Franklin came in with a 58.33 relay, winning her the gold medal. Her win was Franklin's first individual gold medal at the Olympic Games. The 2012 Olympics is also Franklin's first ever Olympic games. Australia's Emily Seebohm got the silver medal and Japan's Aya Terakawa nabbed the bronze.

The men's 100-meter backstroke aired after and USA's Matthew Grevers finished with a 52.16 relay, giving him the Gold medal to take back home. Nick Thoman, also from Team USA, came in second followed by Japan's Ryosuke Irie coming in third with the bronze. USA has won the last five backstroke competitions at the Olympic Games.

USA is continuing to sweep the swimming division of the Olympic Games. The nation has a total of 489 Olympic swimming medals, more than any other nation. Australia comes in second but with only 177 medals.

In the women's 100-meter breaststroke, Ruta Meilutyte from Lithuania scored the gold with 1:05.47 and at the age of 15, she set the record as the youngest athlete ever to receive a gold medal. With a relay of 1:05.55, USA's Rebecca Soni got the silver medal for the second time in this event - winning it in the 2000 Olympics as well -  and Japan's Satomi Suzuki came in third with the bronze medal. This is Meilutyte's first time competing in the Olympics Games.

On July 31, the men will compete in the 200-meter butterfly finals and the women will battle it out for the gold in the 200-meter IM. For live streaming of all the games, click here and check NBC's official schedule of all the swimming competitions in the 2012 Olympic Games.
